Questions on Eligibility Criteria

Why are fresh graduates not eligible for SkillsFuture Fellowships?

The SkillsFuture Fellowship recognises Singapore Citizens who have acquired deep skills through years of work experience, and are deeply committed to contributing to the skills development of others SkillsFuture Fellows will serve as role models for future generations on achieving skills mastery.

Fresh graduates may consider other initiatives such as the SkillsFuture Earn and Learn Programme at (http://www.skillsfuture.sg/earnandlearn). Individuals who wish to switch careers can also continue to tap on programmes such as the Professional Conversion Programmes (PCPs).

Can recipients of the SkillsFuture Study Award apply for the SkillsFuture Fellowship?

 SkillsFuture Study Award recipients have to complete the courses supported under the SkillsFuture Study Award before they can apply for the SkillsFuture Fellowship.

Past SkillsFuture Study Award recipients are welcomed to apply for the SkillsFuture Fellowship and nominations would be subjected to evaluation.

Are there any restrictions on the industry that I work for, in order to be eligible for SkillsFuture Fellowship?

No. The SkillsFuture Fellowship is open to Singapore Citizens from all industries. Please visit the SkillsFuture Fellowship website for the eligibility criteria.

Is there an age limit to be eligible for SkillsFuture Fellowship?

The SkillsFuture Fellowships are for Singapore Citizens with at least 10 years of working experience in the same (or related) industry or job functions. Candidates would typically be mid-career individuals. All Singapore Citizens who meet the eligibility criteria are welcome to apply.

Are Public Officers eligible for SkillsFuture Fellowships?

No. The Public Service is committed towards the skills deepening of public officers and government agencies offer a range of training and development schemes to support the skills upgrading of public officers. Public officers are encouraged to approach their HR officers to find out more about in-house awards such as the Exemplary SkillsFuture@Public Service Award.

Can I receive SkillsFuture Fellowships more than once?

No. This is to give opportunities to applicants who have not received the award, so that more Singapore Citizens can benefit from the initiative.

Questions on Award Monies

How can I use the monetary award from SkillsFuture Fellowship

The monetary award can be used to defray out-of-pocket expenses incurred in the pursuit of skills mastery through a broad range of skills deepening and upgrading programmes.

What are the types of training programmes supported under SkillsFuture Fellowships?

The SkillsFuture Fellowships can be used to support a wide range of skills deepening and upgrading options. These training programmes, which may be conducted locally or overseas, should lead to the acquisition of new skills and knowledge which will add value to the career development of individuals.

Applicants should indicate the training programme(s) in their training plan when submitting the nomination.

My total training costs are less than $10,000. Can I still apply for SkillsFuture Fellowship?

Yes, your application and training programmes will be subject to evaluation.

Will SkillsFuture Fellowship recipients be expected to serve a bond?

No. Award recipients will not have to serve a bond.

What are the circumstances whereby I am required to return the award monies?

Award recipients will be required to return the award monies if they are found to have provided false or inaccurate information in the nomination form and/or have failed to have met any of the obligations in the Letter of Offer signed by award recipients.

Can I use my SkillsFuture Credit together with the SkillsFuture Fellowships?

How is the SkillsFuture Fellowship different from the SkillsFuture Study Award?

The SkillsFuture Fellowship recognises Singapore Citizens with deep skills acquired through significant work experience in the same or related industries or job functions, as well as a track record of contribution to the skills development of others (e.g. as a coach or mentor).

The SkillsFuture Study Award is targeted at developing and deepening skills of Singapore Citizens in the workforce that are needed in economic growth industries and industries meeting social needs.
