SkillsFuture Study Award for Land Transport Sector
Land Transport Authority (LTA)

early-career-employee

Sector Overview

The Land Transport sector is involved in the development of Singapore’s land transport system. Our aim is to create an eco-system of innovative urban mobility solutions and user experiences. As the sector lead, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore (LTA) strives to connect people and places and enhance travel experience. We partner public transport operators, service providers, businesses, institutes of higher learning, research agencies, schools and grassroots organisations to ensure that our mobility needs are catered for in a sustainable way.

The land transport system caters to about 8-million passenger-trips on public transport daily. As this figure expected to grow, we aim to double the rail network by 2030, ramp up bus services through the bus service enhancement programme and reform the bus industry via the government contracting model. We are also working in tandem on future mobility solutions such as the autonomous vehicle programme, mobile applications, applied research and simulation models.

We need a skilled workforce with the right training to support these initiatives. Aside from knowledge in policy, planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance, we also need people with passion in smart systems to help us make Singapore a great city to call home.
