The Private Security sector plays a key role in supporting law enforcement agencies to maintain safety and security in Singapore.
Over the years, the sector has gone through different transformations to enhance its competency and professionalism. The Progressive Wage Model (PWM) is one of the sector’s latest initiatives. It provides a five-level career progression pathway that gives security officers opportunities for skills upgrading, better jobs and better pay.
The sector is set to grow further in our fast-paced and complex environment. In this next phase of growth, we need to nurture talent with a wide range of skills. The SkillsFuture Study Award encourages security personnel to pursue skills upgrading beyond training mandated by the PWM. Specifically, it encourages those who are currently taking on, or wish to take on, professional, managerial and executive positions. These include employees of security agencies as well as those employed in security-related positions in their organisations.
